The $13-million Navos Behavioral Healthcare Center for Children, Youth & Families sits on the shores of Lake Burien and includes five buildings on 7.5 acres. The project includes a studio apartment housing complex for 24 young adults transitioning out of foster care, three welcoming homes for children in long-term treatment programs and an outpatient counseling center that will offer primary care physician services for clients. The project team relied on lean practices as well as an “engagement model” that included a work party to remove cedar paneling from a historic gym that was on the property. The material was then used throughout the new project. Work was completed on time and with zero OSHA recordable incidents during more than 63,000 work-hours.
