An architect and urban designer at Stantec, Roy says Boston’s healthy economy sparked a surge in commercial projects. To accommodate increased population projections, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh called for 53,000 more housing units for various income levels by 2030. “The housing sector seems poised to grow for some time,” Roy says. But while billings increased in 2015 across the region, she notes that many people left the profession during the recession, creating a significant gap in mid-career talent available to busy firms.
