Construction activity for Las Cruces has picked up from this time last year, Weir says. Building permits for new single family residential homes are steady. The number of permits for residential alterations and additions is up.

“The city is also anticipating continued growth for master-planned areas along U.S. Route 70 and the East Mesa, with proposed redevelopment for the southern gateway, and for the University Avenue corridor, with pending New Mexico State University and city projects,” he says.
