The streetscape project aimed to turn downtown Ruston into a more pedestrian-friendly and inviting environment and improve accessibility. The project consists of nine different phases separated into two different projects. The first project, which has now been completed, was largely funded by grants.

Existing conditions proved challenging as construction progressed because the majority of utilities were 75 years old and had never been updated. A large part of the project was moving power lines underground, which enhanced the area’s appearance
