The city of Georgetown’s new 70,000-sq-ft Public Safety Training Facility is composed of multiple two-story buildings, each bullet resistant and able to withstand an F4 tornado. It houses the police department and fire administration as well as a crime lab, evidence processing, shooting range and an emergency vehicle operations course.

The facility also includes a training building with a maze capable of being reconfigured into patterns for mock drills, made possible by the work of rough carpentry subcontractor Construction Specialties of Central Texas.

The buildings are made of 80% tilt wall, requiring additional safety coordination among the project team to avoid incidents. During construction, the project team discovered several caves on site that necessitated extra safety precautions.
