Holder, Manhattan, Moody and Hunt Joint Venture serves as the construction manger at risk for the 1.2-million-sq-ft, 12-gate terminal. The partners are Holder Construction Co., Manhattan Construction Co. and C.D. Moody Construction, all of Atlanta, and Hunt Construction Group of Scottsdale, Ariz. The building has topped out and completion is scheduled for April 2012.
Turner has resumed work on the $333-million, 745,000-sq-ft Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning for the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Savannah District. In Atlanta, Turner is completing the $93-million Building 24 office building at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
GSC Atlanta, a subsidiary of Kiewit Southern Co. in Peachtree City, Ga., is working on the $110-million South River Tunnel and Pumping Station project for Clean Water Atlanta. The system includes a 9,000-ft-long, 14-ft-diameter tunnel that will mitigate sewer overflows in the city’s South River Basin.
The GEO Group of Boca Raton, Fla., received a contact with the Georgia Dept. of Corrections to develop and operate the $80-million, 1,500-bed correctional facility on state-owned land in Milledgevile.
The state legislature has committed $105 million to the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project, which will deepen the channel from 42 ft to 48 ft to accommodate larger cargo carriers and attract new business. The Georgia Ports Authority expects construction to begin in 2011 and wrap up in 2015.
The Georgia Dept. of Transportation announced plans for a new multimodal passenger terminal in downtown Atlanta. The transportation hub will serve MARTA rail and bus systems, regional express bus systems and the Georgia railroad network. A request for proposals from developers for the public private partnership is anticipated on Dec. 1, with selection targeted for May 1.
