Forrester Construction Co. of Rockville, Md., was awarded a contract to restore the District of Columbia War.

This project will involve a restoration and cleaning of the memorial, as well as the installation of drainage systems for the monument, electrical upgrades, new blue stone walkways and modifications to the existing landscape.

The memorial was built in 1931 and commemorates the citizens of the District of Columbia who served in World War I.

Construction was to begin in August, with completion by March.
