From his perspective, Jason Rodda feels like he's been a builder all of his life. After his father, John Rodda, started Lakeland, Fla.-based Rodda Construction in 1989, Jason started working part-time at the company during high school. Upon graduation from Florida Southern College, he started full-time as an assistant project manager, and later as project manager. Rodda earned the distinction of being the only person in the state of Florida to be both a certified health-care constructor as well as a certified general contractor.

From modest beginnings in India, Prasoon Sinha has risen to a position as a senior executive in the Atlanta office of ARCADIS. Sinha earned a place in the top 1% of more than 200,000 students applying to the Indian Institute of Technology, one of the country's most prestigious undergraduate schools, where he ranked in the top five of his class. Today, he's a well-known traffic and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) expert, having authored or coauthored eight articles for various industry conferences, including the Transportation Research Board. Sinha manages 20 engineers and leads the company's technology, knowledge and innovation efforts. He has trained more than 50 professionals in microsimulation modeling for roadway projects.

With 15 years of mechanical engineering experience, Stanton Stafford is focused on improving sustainability results. Recently named a managing principal with Integral Group, Atlanta, Stafford's past experience includes leading teams focused on energy and sustainability services for LEED, sustainable design and high-performance building projects. However, his sustainability-related efforts extend beyond his employer, with Stafford currently serving as chairman and chief financial officer of the Lifecycle Building Center of Greater Atlanta, a nonprofit focused on bulk waste stream diversion through building material salvage and reuse. Stafford oversees the 25-member board that manages eight employees and a deconstruction and retail operation with a goal of diverting 1 million lb of construction materials from the waste stream annually.

Infrastructure expert excels on technically complex projects

In his nine years with Brasfield & Gorrie, John Strid has become one of the firm's most expert senior project managers for technically complex heavy construction projects, overseeing infrastructure projects at the firm's Birmingham, Ala., office. One of Strid's top project management achievements involved the $81.5-million Galveston Lift Span Replacement project in Galveston, Texas, which involved erecting the Galveston Causeway Railroad Bridge and constructing two 1,200-ft-long tunnels. Strid played a key role in placing the bridge, which involved floating into place a 1,580-ton main span.

Since joining Atkins in 2005 as a landscape architect, Kristen Sweatland has led numerous high-profile projects, including multiple Disney property contracts as well as jobs for Carnival Cruise Lines and Universal Studio's Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Her track record led to her promotion to a senior role within the landscaping group with expanded project and management responsibilities. Also, Sweatland has helped establish CADD standards and processes—such as BIM—for Atkins' planning and landscape architecture groups worldwide.
