In a span of just nine months, HITT Contracting Inc. delivered roughly 500,000 sq ft of offices, labs and amenity space for NCR’s 20-story tower in Atlanta.

The global headquarters, which was designed to foster collaboration, features amenities such as dining options with outdoor seating, a coffee bar, a gym, a large lecture space and the NCR innovation lab.

The tower features sloping glass panes that reveal the activities on every floor while providing sweeping views of the city.

The interior construction ran concurrently with another contractor’s work on the base building, so HITT was challenged by limited access to work areas. When the project started in April 2017, for instance, the contractor could access only the first 10 levels, with access granted to another two floors every month thereafter.

To maintain a safe and efficient work flow, the contractor designated a full-time safety superintendent, who developed a site-specific safety plan that helped track subcontractors’ repeat offenses and decreased the number of safety incidents.

HITT also created custom hard-hat stickers and safety vests that allowed workers to easily distinguish interiors and base building subcontractors. That, in turn, helped with project management and safety awareness.

The tower achieved LEED Platinum certification, making it Georgia’s first certified core-and-shell project to achieve the distinction.
