“Go-to” manager now tasked with leading the company
Just eighteen years after joining Creamer as an intern, Downs now serves as president of the twelve-hundred-employee specialty construction firm. Few people have been better prepared to take on the challenge of leading an organization into its second century of business. Long known within the firm as the “go-to” manager for the most complex and challenging assignments, Downs’ experience includes hundreds of transportation and municipal infrastructure projects around the country. Always striving to make the next job more successful than the one before, Downs made an immediate impact as president by implementing a sweeping company reorganization to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Downs has also applied his deep understanding of Union work requirements and collective bargaining agreements to foster mutually supportive labor relations. That includes upholding Creamer’s commitment to protecting employees and the public via daily education and certification activities at the company’s training and development center. A graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, Downs regularly returns to his alma mater to recruit top engineers to join the firm. He also participates in a variety of charitable organizations and athletic fundraising events around the region.
