An advocate for accessible, inclusive environments

Safe and efficient multi-modal mobility has been the focus of McCray’s career, with projects ranging from preparing a long-range multimodal transportation strategy for the District of Columbia to developing access plans for seven urban National Wildlife Refuges, with recommendations for eliminating barriers to underserved and under-represented communities. McCray’s passion for cultivating inclusive environments begins at Kimley-Horn, through participation on the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and its “Lift” initiative to recruit, develop, and retain female employees. McCray also donates her time to a variety of industry organizations such as WTS, formerly the Women’s Transportation Seminar. In addition to serving as Membership Chair and mentor for WTS’s Washington, DC, chapter, she has represented Kimley-Horn at the organization’s national meeting and served on its Recognitions Committee. In 2019, McCray was Technical Chair for the Institute of Transportation Engineers’ Joint Southern and Mid-Colonial District Conference held in Crystal City, Va. McCray’s volunteer interests also include supporting youth who want to be engineers. She’s partnered with the non-profit Beauty Within, a youth empowerment and mentoring organization for girls ages 9-13, to present on transportation and lead participants through a field study.
