Glenessa Gordon is the Acting Assistant Director in the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion. She currently develops and implements strategies to maximize opportunities, increase the capacity and ensure success of Minority, Women-Owned, Small and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (MWSBDEs) through opportunities within the Port Authority and with its business partners and tenants. She also collaborates with various departments in the agency to ensure that their procurement process will provide meaningful opportunities and participation for MWSDBEs in the areas of construction, professional services, and the supply of goods and operational services. In addition, she oversaw the development and implementation of the agency’s MWBE and ACDBE disparity study which assessed current policies and procedures to improve future MWBE and ACDBE participation and led to the agency increasing its MWBE participation goals to 30% (20% MBE and 10% WBE) and removing barriers which prohibits the agency form maximizing participation.
In her more than 25 years with the agency, aside from her current role, she has worked in the engineering department as the manager of operations analysis, a project manager and in the construction division at the airports, tunnels and bridges, and PATH facilities.
She holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from New York University. She is also a licensed as a Civil Engineer in the state of New Jersey.
