In this leadership role since last year at the nation’s largest publicly owned utility, David is responsible for the entire power system. Previously he was director of power construction and maintenance and assistant director of power transmission and distribution. Also as safety representative for power system safety, David responded to severe incidents and employee injuries and conducted investigations to resolve incident issues, with a focus on preventing recurrence. He also was superintendent of the utility’s Electrical Mechanic Training Center, which tripled in size under his management. David, who began his more than 22-year department career as an electrical mechanic, also is a graduate of LADWP's electrical mechanic training program. Before joining the utility, he served for 10 years in the U.S. Navy’s nuclear powered submarine force as an Electrician's Mate First Class, Sub Surface and completed the University of California's construction management certificate program.
