The Los Angeles region is advancing efforts to decarbonize its power supply, including plans to startup early next year of one of the nation's first utility-scale power plants fueled by 30% hydrogen.

Developer plans to establish a $100-million plant outside Bakersfield for its first-of-its-kind project, working with Fluor Corp. and gasification systems maker SunGas Renewables Inc.
