Shelley Finnigan
Associate Dean for Master’s and Professional Education
Northwestern’s McCormick School of Engineering
Shelley Finnigan, Associate Dean for Master’s and Professional Education at Northwestern’s McCormick School of Engineering, oversees the school’s entire master's degree portfolio. Additionally, Shelley is a clinical associate professor at Northwestern, and directs two of its master’s programs, both catering to the built environment sector: the MS in Executive Management for Design and Construction, and the MS in Project Management.
Before joining Northwestern, Shelley spent over 15 years in the design and construction industry, working for ArcelorMittal International, Nucor-Yamato Steel, and Thornton Tomasetti. She holds a BS and MS in civil engineering from Purdue University and is a licensed structural
engineer in the State of Illinois.
Shelley is an active member of the built environment sector, serving on the Advisory Board for the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Chairperson for the Editorial Committee for the
American Institute of Steel Construction, and Co-Chair for the Structural Engineering Institute’s Education and Leadership Committee. Shelley can be found speaking at or moderating panels for conferences across the globe, and regularly engages in mentorship of early-and mid-career professionals through her industry outreach, including as a member of Professional Women in Construction.
