Marsha Carroll
Senior Safety Manager
Penta Building Corp.
Marsha Carroll, senior safety manager in Las Vegas at The PENTA Building Group, joined the firm in 2007. As a former athlete, she was looking for an active career, becoming a union laborer and foreman for the firm and then serving as its first female senior safety manager for seven years before promotion to her current role. Marsha oversees PENTA’s safety compliance program and is responsible for ensuring field employees are properly trained in all phases of work. Her leadership and advocacy for construction safety standards is one reason the contractor can maintain an outstanding safety record.
The PENTA Building Group is a nationally recognized commercial contractor with offices across the Southwest U.S. and active projects in southern Nevada, California and Arizona. Its projects have included a number of major structures in Las Vegas such as T-Mobile Arena and The Expo at the World Market Center. The firm ranks at No. 174 on ENR’s latest Top 400 Contractors list, and has built or renovated structures that include casinos, hotel properties, multi-purpose arenas, health care and education facilities, public works and parking structures. It was selected last year as general contractor for the $600 million Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon project in Bakersfield, Calif. The contractor earned ENR Awards of Merit last year, including one for safety, related to The Thacher School, Creative & Technology Building in Ojai, Calif., a 23,000-sq-ft building that reimagines the learning environment. The project team met challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic through close coordination with the owner that enabled them to rapidly deploy jobsite safety measures that resulted in no project shutdowns and 10 months of uninterrupted onsite construction.
