Asmita Gharat is a project manager at American Airlines, Corporate Real Estate department. She is based in New York and responsible for master programs and capital improvement projects at JFK, LGA and EWR Airports. In her role, she is managing projects substantially large in scope, budget and involving multi-stakeholder alliances. Gharat’s expertise lies in strategic planning, scope development, project team selection, contract negotiations, construction planning and management ensuring safety, budget, and schedule control. She is adept at creating collaborative environment for project teams, airline operation teams and airport authorities.

Gharat has been responsible for the successful completion of a vast project portfolio worth over $100 million with American airlines. Most recently, she completed a terminal colocation project at Boston Logan International airport that included 75,000 square-feet employee support spaces, new admirals club and various upgrades pertaining to the terminal infrastructure. Her current key projects include a master program related to Terminal 8 expansion and capital improvement projects for John F. Kennedy airport that are budgeted over $400 million.

She has over 10 years of comprehensive experience spanning in aviation, construction and design companies in USA and India. It primarily includes airport construction, high-rise commercial and residential building construction, multispecialty hospital construction as well as highway and roadway design and construction. Gharat earned her Master’s in transportation engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a Bachelor’s in civil engineering from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai. She is also a member of ASCE Air transport group.
