Alla Weinstein has been an engineer and entrepreneur in the field of marine renewable energy for more than 30 years. She is co-founder and CEO of Trident Winds LLC, a company now developing offshore wind projects in deep waters using floating support structures and CEO of Castle Wind, a joint venture between Trident and EnBW North America Inc. that is developing a commercial scale floating offshore wind farm off the coast of Morro Bay in central California. Previously, she was co-founder, CEO and president of Principle Power Inc., a floating wind turbine support structure technology firm and founder of a company that successfully developed a wave energy conversion technology later acquired. Alla also brings industry experience building global engineering projects for companies such as Honeywell and Boeing.
Alla was appointed by Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee to the state Coastal Marine Advisory Council and serves as an Ambassador of the U.S. Clean Energy Education and Empowerment (C3E) program—a partnership between the US Energy Dept., MIT, Stanford and Texas A&M Universities to close the gender gap and increase womens’ participation, leadership, and success in clean energy fields. She was the first president of the European Ocean Energy Association and is ranked among leading players in the energy field.
Alla earned an aerospace engineering degree in the former Soviet Union, a BS in electrical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Garvin School of International Management, Arizona State University.
