Josh DeStefano
Southwest VDC Leader
DPR Construction
Beginning as a project engineer, Josh transitioned to a career in construction in 2002 following his drafting work in manufacturing. After several years the convergence of two of his lifetime passions, construction and technology lured him away from field operations and into the world of Virtual Design and Construction. Since joining DPR in 2012 he has focused on strategically leveraging construction technology through all phases of the project lifecycle.
He currently leads the national Field Technology Group and serves as Virtual Design and Construction Director for DPR's Southwest region, representing over $1.3B in project volume. His teams deploy various technologies including BIM, augmented and virtual reality, robotics, laser scanning, aerial UAV photography, and 360 photography to enhance the building process, inform collaboration, improve the quality of the built environment, and provide the best experience to project teams, partners and clients.
Josh has taught and presented on BIM, VDC, IPD, and Reality Capture at local universities and various industry events. He also serves on the board of directors at the US Institute of Building Documentation; a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering excellence in building documentation by educating, guiding, and supporting stakeholders with an interest in the built environment.
