Once a Site is added to the National Priorities List (NPL), the complex and multi-phase process of Superfund cleanup begins. The Potentially Responsible Party must evaluate the various potential sources that may have contributed to contamination, delineate the nature and extent of any contamination emanating from those sources (Remedial Investigation or RI), evaluate potential remedial options to address contamination (Feasibility Study or FS), and design and implement selected remedial options (Remedial Design/Remedial Action or RD/RA). All of these activities are conducted under legally enforceable documents, and require a substantial amount of interaction with U.S. EPA, state regulatory agencies, legal counsel, community, and other stake holders (such as insurance companies).
In this webinar attendees will learn about:
- The overall process and challenges of conducting a U.S. EPA Superfund cleanup;
- The RI/FS, Record of Decision, RD/RA, and Construction Completion process and documents, and;
- Post-Construction Completion requirements and current Superfund initiatives.
