Hastie, a 25-year construction veteran in Sacramento, is optimistic about the area's improving market. He says that e-commerce appears to be driving the demand for distribution centers in the region, adding that the wine industry is also giving a boost to the sector. "We are seeing an influx of Pacific Rim companies in the food manufacturing sector opening U.S. operations in the area," Hastie adds. Speculative development is starting again, though at a cautious pace, he says.
