Cleveland-based Eaton Corp., an industrial manufacturer, has acquired Denver-based EMC Engineers Inc, an energy engineering and energy services company.

EMC Engineers had 2009 sales of $24 million and employs approximately 155 people. The firm has provided energy-efficiency solutions for a wide range of government, education, commercial and industrial facilities.

The chief operating officer of Eaton’s electrical sector, Thomas S. Gross, said that through the acquisition, the firm would be better positioned to meet its customers’ energy needs. He did not disclose the terms of the deal.

Neither firm returned calls about the acquisition.
