Each year the editors of Mountain States Construction select a general contracting firm that demonstrates ongoing innovation and sound business practices to be the magazine’s Contractor of the Year.

This year, we have chosen Salt Lake City-based Okland Construction Co. Inc. as the Intermountain Contractor of the Year, based on the firm’s consistent placement in the top 10 of our annual General Contractors rankings.

Okland experienced a profitable and busy 2009, reporting revenue of $607.43 million, bumping the firm from second to first in Mountain States Construction magazine’s annual Top General Contractor rankings.

The firm’s largest project to break ground in 2009 was the Huntsman Cancer Hospital Expansion, which consists of 156,000 sq ft, 50 private patient rooms, four operating rooms, 25 exam rooms, a critical care unit, an additional PET/CT imager and a breast MRI. The project is scheduled for completion in 2011.

Established in 1918, Okland is a family-owned general contractor with offices in Salt Lake City; Tempe, Ariz.; Durango, Colo.; and Ketchum, Idaho.

Okland will be featured in the July issue of Mountain States Construction magazine.
