Colorado Construction magazine announced the winners of the 2009 Gold Hard Hat Awards today at a breakfast ceremony at the Denver Athletic Club in Denver.

The annual Gold Hard Hat Awards is a competition to determine the best projects completed by Colorado firms in a calendar year. The projects are submitted by firms involved in any aspect of a project.

Judging was done by a panel of industry experts: Taryn Edwards, AGC Colorado president; Jessica Flansburg, Ambient Energy, director of marketing; Shahnaz Jaffari, RMMI, director of sustainability; Mary Morissette, klipp, senior associate; Tom Stone, Adolfson & Peterson Construction, project executive; Diane Travis, RMMI, technical director; Phillip Triplett, CH2M Hill, senior project manager; John Yonushewski, Buchanan Yonushewski Group, founding partner.

Projects were selected based on design quality and innovation, craftsmanship, the project’s contribution to the community and the industry, solution of unique design and construction challenges and overall excellence. The size of the project was not a factor in judging.
