I’m pleased to announce most of the winners of ENR Southwest’s Best Projects 2012 competition. This year we received 138 entries for projects located in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico, so reviewing them was a massive task for our 13 regional construction industry judges. Nationwide, ENR Best Projects competition received nearly 1,000 entries – a big jump from the previous year.

We also noticed a marked improvement in the quality of the entries this year. The judges really appreciated all the time and effort that submitters put in to their entry forms, and it’s always bittersweet to announce the winners since just a small percentage of the projects are selected for recognition. This year we again chose winners for the whole region, rather than a winner in each southwest state.

In this initial announcement, winning projects are listed in alphabetical order, without the specific award category or type (such as whether the project was “best” in their category, or if it was an award of merit). More specific information will be provided at a later time on this blog, along with a couple of pending awards, including the Southwest Safety Award. You can read profiles of each winning project in the November issue of ENR Southwest.

Be sure to mark Nov. 27 on your calendar to attend the awards banquet in Phoenix, where you can meet the project teams and help us congratulate them. It will be held at the Renaissance Downtown Phoenix – visit www.bestprojects2012.com for more information or to register.
