The Nevada Department of Transportation says it has obligated all $201 million of its American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Highway Funds. While the DOT accomplished this a month ahead of schedule, most of the obligations were for pavement preservation projects.
 

According to Scott Magruder, public information officer with NDOT, Nevada joins Maine and Wyoming among the three states to obligate all of its ARRA funding so far.

All of Nevada's 17 counties received funding through a total of 69 projects statewide. More than $120 million went to projects in Clark County and an estimated $26 million went to the construction of the I-580/Meadowood Interchange project in Washoe County.

Projects included an estimated $30.4-million resurfacing of U.S. 95 from S.R. 156 to S.R. 157 in Clark County; $12.4-million resurfacing of I-80 in Pershing County; $11.8-million resurfacing of U.S. 93 in White Pine County.

As in other Southwestern states, Nevada bid the projects out in a very favorable, competitive climate, with some of the bids coming in far below engineer's estimates, Magruder says.
