Austin Industries posted strong regional growth in 2014, thanks to a full plate of work from 2013 that wrapped up last year. Coupled with an impressive project line up in 2015, the firm is setting up for a bountiful year ahead. For solid performance, a broad project portfolio and dedication to its employees and the community, ENR Texas & Louisiana has named Austin Industries its 2015 Contractor of the Year.

One of the most notable projects under Austin’s belt is Parkland Hospital. As part of a four-team joint venture, the firm’s Austin Commercial division recently completed the $700 million first phase of the $1.3 billion hospital. Austin Commercial also wrapped up construction on Baylor University’s McLane Stadium last August.

Meanwhile, Austin Bridge & Road and its construction partner, Angel Brothers, are working on TxDOT’s $150 million Energy Sector Roadway Repair Project (ESR2P) in South Texas, which includes 31 separate projects spread across 11 counties in South Texas.

Moving forward, Austin has several exciting new projects in the works, including the new headquarters for Toyota North America in Plano, Texas. The 100-acre campus will include about 2.2 million square feet of enclosed/conditioned space and parking for between 7,500 and 8,000 vehicles. Additionally, Austin Commercial was selected by developers Trammell Crow Company and KOR Group as the general contractor to build the Austin Proper development on the Block 188 site in downtown Austin – a $115 million project. Austin also broke ground this year on phase two of the State Farm HQ in Richardson, an $86 million project.

Beyond the jobsite, Austin Industries, its operating companies and employee-owners are active with numerous charities, including the company’s own charity, the Austin Family Fund, which assists Austin’s employee-owners in time of natural disaster.
