Last month, I announced the winners of ENR’s 7th annual Global Best Projects competition, in which our panel of industry judges identifies and honors the project teams behind outstanding design and construction efforts of the past year. From the 32 winning projects, three have been selected as finalists for Global Project of the Year. While all of the projects selected from the record number of entries are outstanding examples that show the risks, rewards and hurdles overcome when designing and building internationally, these three projects excel in almost all of the criteria that the projects were judged by: design and construction quality, innovations, safety performance, community benefit and overcoming challenges.

  • Ankara Bilkent City Hospital Project, located in Ankara, Turkey. Submitted by CCN Altyapi Yatirimlari ve İnşaat A.S. It was also the winner in the Health Care category.
  • DSSIP Main Trunk Sewer MTS-01 Project, located in Doha, Qatar. Submitted by Ashghal. It was also the winner in the Water/Wastewater category.
  • Repair, Reconstruction and Seismic Strengthening of UNESCO-site Palace, Gaddi Baithak, located in Kathmandu, Nepal. Submitted by Miyamoto International. It was also the winner in the Renovation/Restoration category.

The winning Global Project of the Year, finalists and all of the selected category winners, will be spotlighted in more detail in the Sept. 30 issue of ENR. All the winning projects will also be celebrated – and you are invited to meet and mingle with the teams! - at the awards gala dinner on Oct. 2 at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. Visit enr.com/global-best-projects for more info about the dinner. Hope to see you there!
