The annual Rosendin Navy SEAL Foundation Golf Tournament will be held in Newport Beach on May 22 at Pelican Hills Golf Course. The event, which benefits military members, veterans and their families, is expected to raise more than $200,000 for the Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF).

“This event is just one way we can show our support for veterans and let this community of warriors know that we have their back,” says David Lincoln, vice president, Renewable Energy Group, Rosendin. Lincoln, a committee member for the Navy SEAL Foundation, says he started the golf tournament as a way of thanking Rosendin subcontractors, vendors and manufacturers.

While organizing the event in 2016, Lincoln says he got together with a few navy seal friends and came up with the idea to also use the tournament as a way to raise money for the Navy SEAL Foundation. “I contacted the NSF, let them know what we were thinking and after submitting an official request, we were accepted.”

The Navy SEAL Foundation, a 501c(3) nonprofit organization, provides immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and its families.

Lincoln says they selected Pelican Hills Golf course in Newport Beach because of the location, knowing that it would be a big draw. “After announcing the change to our company tournament, we sold out in less than 90 days and raised over $200K in our first year,” says Lincoln. “Fast forward to today and I now sit on the NSF Committee where I have seen firsthand how the NSF reacts with the loss of one of our warriors and all that the NSF does for the families.”

The tournament has raised over $200,000 every year, and Lincoln says after this year’s event is over, Rosendin will have helped raise more than $1 million for NSF since 2016.

Rosendin has many veterans in its offices across the U.S., from all military branches, says Lincoln. He says Rosendin actively recruits military personnel that will soon be discharged, as well as veterans, to work with the company by educating them on the necessary steps to take to begin a career as an electrical contractor, or in other fields such as technology, safety, estimating, finance, marketing, business development or purchasing.

The golf tournament also attracts big name industry sponsors, including Sunbelt Rentals, United Rentals, Birdi Associates, Main Electric, Performance Lighting, and S-Power. Other sponsors include 4-S.T.E.L. Engineering, Landscape Development, SCI Lighting, ACCO Engineering, Southwire, Sol Components, Gexpro, Walters, Hawkeye Equipment, RJ & J, SAT / Tomarco, and Nexsystems.

Besides golf the event will feature a keynote address by Retired Rear Admiral Kerry Metzwill; an 8 ft x 20 ft, travelling exhibit of the Wall of Honor highlighting fallen navy seals; a silent auction and raffle to benefit the foundation; a special dinner; a Presentation of Colors by the Seal Beach Marine Color Guard; and appearances by the L.A. Rams cheerleaders, retired NFL players, and former PGA golfers.
