The Best Projects' Safety competition, now in its third year, drew a diverse mix of contenders from Alaska, Oregon and Washington but it was one project in particular that our judges deemed particularly worthy of the top prize. This project, Oregon’s I-5 Willamette River Bridge stood out for the project team’s proactive safety measures, the judges said in naming it the region's 2014 Safety Award winner. The project was submitted by general contractor Hamilton Construction Co.

The judges also honored the Resident Inn by Marriott Portland Downtown/Pearl District with a merit in safety award. The project was submitted by general contractor Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty Co.

More details on both of those submissions as well as the other Best Projects winners, including the region’s overall Best Project, will be highlighted in ENR Northwest’s Dec. 1-8 issue. All of the winners will also be honored at our special Dec. 5 luncheon, to be held in Seattle.
