The Dec. 26 issue of ENR MidAtlantic will feature Atlantic Constructors Inc. as the Specialty Contractor of the Year. The issue will also feature the entire list of the top-ranked specialty contractors based on 2015 revenue. The 18 participating firms from Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia reported a total of $2.4 billion of revenue in the region during 2015.
Located in Richmond, Va., Atlantic Constructors saw a 17% revenue increase from 2014 to 2015. The firm, specializes in design-assist and design-build projects, as well as modular prefabricated skids that save weeks in construction schedules. For example, the entire mechanical room for Virginia Commonwealth University Community Memorial Hospital was 100% prefabricated as modular skids at Atlantic's headquarters. The modular skids shaved more than eight weeks off the project schedule.
The firm has a slew of other capabilities and services, including process piping, HVAC & plumbing, fire protection and airport services to name a few. Atlantic has 543 employees, all of which are located in the MidAtlantic region. The firm has also never had a fatality in its history.
Atlantic is also extremely active in its community. In addition to participating in AGC and ABC events and community fundraisers, they are involved with the Boy Scouts of America and several other charitable organizations.
