Last year was good for school builders in the Midwest and even better for builders of hospitals. Extending a streak begun in 2011, 2012 also proved profitable for residential builders in cities like Chicago, where the housing market's pain has been the apartment developer's gain.

Few major transportation projects were launched in the region last year and even fewer office and retail projects, though 2013 may tell a different story in some markets, Chicago included, if recent news is any indicator.

Meantime, ENR Midwest will publish a list of last year's Top Construction Starts on April 1. To compile the list, we've not only referenced data from McGraw-Hill Construction's Dodge, but our ongoing coverage of projects in the region.

To ensure the list is as complete as possible, we invite you to submit notable regional projects that broke ground in 2012 to john_gregerson@mcgraw-hill.com 

We're particularly interested in projects in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. In addition to the project's name, please indicate its location, construction cost, construction start date (month/year), owner and builder, as well as the project's projected finish date. Please submit the information no later than March 1.
