Robert A. Ivy, editor-in-chief of Architectural Record magazine since 1996, has been named executive vice president and CEO of the national American Institute of Architects (AIA), Washington, D.C. He assumes his new role on Feb. 1. The magazine, like ENR, is a unit of The McGraw-Hill Cos. and, until Dec. 31, 2010, is AIA’s official publication. In January, Architect magazine, published by Hanley Wood, assumes that role. Ivy permanently succeeds Christine McEntee, who resigned in July. He also is a vice president and editorial director of McGraw-Hill Construction Media, overseeing editorial quality of its print and online media, including ENR. Ivy is a former AIA board member and had been a partner in charge of Mississippi architect Dean/Dale, Dean & Ivy.
Paul R. “Bob” Ellis has joined Industrial Contractors Inc., Evansville, Ind., as vice president for energy and strategic alliances. He was vice president of generation engineering at Duke Energy, Charlotte, N.C. His 32-year career to date includes all phases of power generation and utility management, according to ICI.
