Four construction executives will receive 2012 Golden Beaver awards from The Beavers, a Los Altos, Calif., group of practitioners mostly based in the western states. Cited for management is J. Doug Pruitt, chairman of Sundt Construction Inc., Tempe, Ariz., since 1998. Pruitt is a former national president of the Associated General Contractors and a founding member of the Construction Industry Ethics and Compliance Initiative. Receiving the supervision award is James M. Marquardt, senior vice president and tunnel division manager, eastern region, for J.F. Shea Co. Inc., Walnut, Calif. A 33-year tunneling veteran, he now is involved in the $1.1-billion No. 7 subway extension in New York City. Sam E. Baker Jr., a partner in the Seattle law firm Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker LLP, will receive the group's service and supply award. He is a founding member of the University of Washington Contractor Industry Advisory Council. Cited for engineering is William W. Edgerton, chairman of Jacobs Associates, San Francisco. With the firm since 1987, he has led engineering on major tunnel and infrastructure projects in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Hong Kong. Recipients will be honored on Jan. 13 in Los Angeles, at a new location, the J.W. Marriott Hotel at L.A. Live.
