Micron Technology Inc. is planning an expansion of its campus in Boise. Spurred by the federal government’s CHIPS and Science Act, Micron plans to add 6.5 million sq ft of new buildings or additions, while annexing 358 additional acres. The largest building will be a four-story, 4.85-million-sq-ft semiconductor fabrication plant, containing a 600,000-sq-ft cleanroom, which will be the largest cleanroom ever built in the U.S. A 440,000-sq-ft administration building will contain a podium-style parking garage on the lower levels, with space for 3,600 cars. The 365,000-sq-ft Probe building will contain an 85,000-sq-ft cleanroom, where the final stage of the wafer manufacturing process, functionality testing, will take place. An existing fabrication building, known as B51, will add 92,000 sq ft of space. There will also be a 450,000-sq-ft central utility building, a new gas plant, a water treatment plant and a 22-acre electrical yard serving as a substation to support power needs for the fab. Total buildout is expected to be in 2030, at a cost of $15 billion. Micron Technology Inc., 8000 Federal Way, Boise, 83716. DR#22-00847571.
