ALABAMA
The City of Huntsville is planning to redevelop its downtown corridor. The project will connect the downtown, Mill Creek and Lowe Mill communities with greenways and a suspended pedestrian bridge. These three areas are presently separated by two major state and federal roadways: U.S. Route 231 and U.S. Route 431/Alabama 53. The project also includes enhancements along Pinhook Creek to reduce flooding and improve the floodplain. The bulk of project funding is being provided by a federal Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant. The project is valued at $26 million.
