Alabama The University of Alabama Health System is planning to replace the Spain Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham. The project involves constructing a five-story, 350,000-sq-ft building. The first floor will be open-air parking, with the remaining four floors containing 155,000 sq ft of patient care space, 115,000 sq ft of support service space and 80,000 sq ft for treadmills, walking and running tracks, matt tables, and treatment rooms. It is being designed by Williams Blackstock Architects. Construction is expected to begin in June 2022. The project is valued at $91.6 million.
