Home » Suffolk, Virgin Voyages Break Ground on New PortMiami Cruise Terminal
In January, officials with Suffolk, Virgin Voyages and PortMiami held a groundbreaking for the cruise line’s 100,000-sq-ft Terminal V in Miami. The “grove-inspired” terminal, designed by teams with Arquitectonica and Bermello Ajamil & Partners, will feature a roof resembling a palm canopy and will include accommodations for sea-level rise by building the terminal 11.5 ft above grade. The project is targeting LEED Gold certification and is anticipated to be complete in late 2021.
“Suffolk is proud to be a part of such a meaningful project that highlights Miami’s beauty and resilient tourism industry,” said Alexis Leal, chief operating officer with Suffolk, in a press statement. “We are excited to partner with Virgin Voyages and PortMiami, and our focus is on the efficient delivery of an iconic building that will reinforce the city as the world’s leading cruise destination.”
