Kentucky Continental Refining Co. is planning to convert its idled petroleum refinery in Somerset to a soybean crushing, biodiesel refining and blending facility. The project scope includes construction of equipment foundations; erection of structural steel and storage tanks; relocation and installation of soybean crushing and oil extraction equipment, reactors, columns, vessels, centrifuges and packaging equipment; and purchase and installation of supporting equipment. The plant will have the capacity to process 3 million bushels of soybeans per year to produce 5 million gallons of ultra low sulfur diesel and biodiesel per year, high-protein fiber meal for animal feed, soybean oil and crude glycerin. North Carolina Nuvotronics is planning to construct a microwave components manufacturing plant in Durham. The project scope includes design and construction of a building with cleanroom space, and purchase and installation of wafer production, RF module assembly and additive manufacturing equipment. Nuvotronic is part of the Cubic Mission Systems division of Cubic Corporation. The company will use the plant to produce mmWave radios, mmWave power modules, filters, diplexers and antenna arrays.
