Arizona The City of Goodyear is planning to develop a civic square on a 47-acre site located between McDowell Road and Monte Vista Drive and between 150th Drive and the Bullard Wash. Phase I will feature a four-story, 125,000-sq-ft City Hall building with a two-story, 20,000-sq-ft public library in addition to council chambers and city offices. The project also will feature key partner Globe Corp.’s three-story, 100,000-sq-ft office building, a parking structure that can accommodate up to 1,100 vehicles, and Civic Square Park, a two-acre greenspace. Maryland The Montgomery County Dept. of Public Works is planning to extend Observation Drive in Germantown. The project entails constructing a 2.2-mile-long, four-lane divided roadway within a minimum 150-ft right of way, as well as an 8-ft-wide shared-use path on the west side and an 8-ft-wide sidewalk on the east side. A bike path will also be added on the east side from the existing Observation Drive near Waters Discovery Lane to Little Seneca Parkway to provide greenway connectivity. The project includes a 550-ft-long bridge near Waters Discovery Lane, ending at West Old Baltimore Road near the future MTA Comsat Station. The project is being designed by Gannett Fleming Engineers. Final design will begin in 2022, followed by land acquisition, with construction to begin in 2024. The project is valued at $76.8 million.
