Princeton University, Princeton, N.J., has named Andrea Goldsmith dean of its School of Engineering and Applied Science, effective Sept. 1. She currently serves on the electrical engineering faculty at Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif., and, as co-founder and chief technical officer of Quantenna Communications and Plume WiFi, is widely recognized for innovation in the field of wireless communications.
Goldsmith succeeds Emily A. Carter, who became executive vice chancellor and provost of the University of California, Los Angeles, last September.
