Colorado The Municipal Subdistrict of the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District is planning to construct the Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project. The project includes a new 350-ft-tall hydraulic asphalt core rockfill dam that will impound 90,000 acre ft of water, a 36-ft-tall clay core saddle dam, an inlet/outlet tunnel, spillway and approximately 7,000 ft of 72-in.-dia conveyance piping connecting the new reservoir into the existing Colorado-Big Thompson project. This will be the second asphalt core dam constructed in the U.S. Stantec has been selected as the design engineer and Black & Veatch has been selected as the construction manager. Contractor procurement is expected in 2019. The estimated construction cost is $420 million. Georgia The City of Savannah is planning to construct a 269,000-sq-ft indoor arena containing 9,000 seats, 12 luxury suites and 3,000 parking spaces. It is being designed by Perkins & Will Architects Inc. Proposals from construction management-at-risk firms are under review and the winning firm is expected to be chosen soon.
