New England People: Construction business updates for May 2018
John Orrison was tapped to be a senior technical adviser in HNTB Corp.’s rail operations and modeling group in Massachusetts. Based in the firm’s Boston office, the transit and freight rail operations expert conducts rail operations and simulation modeling for HNTB’s transit clients. He also advises private industry and transportation agencies on freight and intermodal operations. Before joining HNTB, Orrison was director of commuter rail operations for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, where he was responsible for optimizing daily service operations.
TRC Cos. has promoted Marc Faecher to chief risk officer. Based in Lowell, Mass., Faecher leads the insurance program and project selection and oversight process for the engineering, environmental consulting and construction-management services firm. He will also oversee sustainability and quality efforts. Faecher previously was responsible for the transaction advisory services business and implementing the risk reduction strategy for the company’s portfolio of fixed price environmental projects. In that role, he oversaw the cleanup of more than 100 sites with a remediation value of more than $650 million. Faecher replaces Tom Bennet, who is retiring in September after 10 years with TRC.
