The board overseeing plans to construct a new terminal at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport gave the official green light to a $178-million, five-gate expansion for the airport’s North Terminal project and set a new opening date of February 2019 for the entire facility. The expansion brings the overall project cost to $993 million.
The New Orleans Aviation Board formally voted March 16 to expand and finance the airport’s North Terminal project, bringing the total number of gates to 30 to 35. Rather than open the new terminal in phases, the board decided to open the new facility in its entirety in February 2019 so as to avoid any logistical issues.
