Florida Triple Five has finalized conceptual plans and is completing land acquisition for its estimated $4-billion American Dream Miami retail and entertainment center. The complex will be built on a 225-acre site near the Florida Turnpike and Interstate 75 in Miami. Planned for inclusion within the 5 million sq ft of retail and entertainment space is a 3-million-sq-ft shopping mall, 16-story indoor ski slope, water park, observation wheel, a 3,000-seat movie theater, ice skating rink and 2,000 hotel rooms. Florida Lefrak Organization is working with Turnberry Construction/Development Co. to develop the SoLeMia mixed-use project, which is valued at between $3 billion and $4 billion. The development will include rental apartments, 12 multifamily residential buildings, a 150-room hotel, an auto dealership, retail-commercial-entertainment spaces, a movie theater and two 10-acre Crystal Lagoons. The firms have completed master planning the complex, which would include a total of 57 buildings and entail redeveloping approximately 184 acres of city-owned land near Biscayne Bay Boulevard.
