At long last, design innovator Denise Scott Brown, 83, has been given her due.
The American Institute of Architects on Dec. 2 named her as recipient of 2016 AIA Gold Medal, the organization’s highest honor, recognition she and supporters say eluded her because of sexism and bureaucracy. Co-recipient of the award is her husband and partner Robert Venturi, who rejected the award years before because rules barred two recipients.
