Contractor Efficiencies Guide Construction of Auburn University's Animal Teaching Hospital
Auburn University’s Wilford and Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital—one of the largest teaching and referral veterinary hospitals in the U.S.—proved a challenge for construction manager Brasfield & Gorrie. In order to build the 208,000-sq-ft replacement hospital, which consists of clinical, examination and client-use space, the project team had to work in a tight urban site while keeping the existing veterinary ER operational. To manage the project’s tradespeople, the firm used a flow-and-grid pattern to coordinate material deliveries and other assignments.
