Iowa DuPont/Danisco is planning to build a cellulosic ethanol plant at West Lincoln Highway and 580th Street in Nevada. The project entails building a biorefinery using corn stover (corncobs, leaves and stalks) from a 30-mile radius as feedstock, which is expected to produce 27.5 million gallons of ethanol annually. Minnesota M.A. Mortenson Construction has started construction of the Fourth Street Residence Hall and Dining Facility at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. The project entails building a six-story, 230,000-sq-ft, 600-bed facility, with lounges on each floor, and a 450-seat dining facility. It will be the first residence hall on the campus to meet the "B3 State of Minnesota" sustainable- building guidelines; it will include a vegetative roof, a stormwater storage and reuse system for toilet use and irrigation, and energy-saving motors and appliances. The job entails replacing the six-lane steel through-truss bridge across the Merrimack River in Newburyport with an eight-lane structure. The project will be staged, allowing the bridge to remain open to traffic throughout construction. The project also includes widening a 3.27-mile stretch of Interstate 95 between Exit 57 and Exit 59.
