Massachusetts New Balance Athletic Shoes Inc. and consulting architect Elkus Manfredi Architects are planning a new headquarters in Brighton. The project calls for the redevelopment of a 609,000-sq-ft area and construction of a 250,000-sq-ft, 10-story headquarters building. The master plan for the design-bid-build project has been completed, and construction schedules are planned for spring 2013. The headquarters building is expected to seek LEED certification. North Carolina Wood Partners has announced plans to build The Bristol, a luxury apartment complex, within the new Park West Village multi-use development in Morrisville. With an estimated cost of $34 million, The Bristol will be a 260-unit residential complex expected to be completed by the end of 2013. Park West Village is a 100-acre, multi-use development currently in its second phase of construction; it is owned by real estate developer Casto. Florida New England Development has selected EMJ Construction as the construction manager for the redevelopment of the West Palm Beach Mall. This two-phase project consists of tearing down the existing 1.4 million-sq-ft mall and converting the 80-acre property into a 450,000-sq-ft outlet center and a 225,000-sq-ft retail strip center. Phase-one demolition and sitework is scheduled to start in late spring 2012, with an opening scheduled for fall 2013. Phase-two work will start in fall 2013, with an opening in fall 2014. New Jersey Tomar Construction LLC has started building the upgrade of the Frenchtown Borough wastewater treatment plant. The project entails building a new influent pumping station, final clarifiers and sludge storage facilities. North Carolina RQ Construction has been awarded a $64-million contract for the design and construction of eight multi- or single-story reinforced-concrete masonry buildings at the 2D Combat Engineer Battalion Complex at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, in Jacksonville. The buildings will have administrative space and drive-through equipment maintenance bays as well as a secure armory and simulated marksmanship trainer. Florida 5/29 The City of Lauderhill is seeking a general contractor for the construction of a performing-arts center and library. The two-story, 47,600-sq-ft performing-arts center will have a reinforced-concrete frame and be located in Broward County Park. Furthermore, the project will include a 12,000-seat theater, a large multipurpose room, a lobby and a concession area. Attached to the building will be a 10,000-sq-ft library. The building will include green design elements, including heat recovery, demand-controlled ventilation, solar thermal heating and a 10-kW solar array. Maryland 6/6 The City of Baltimore is seeking a contractor to pave and restore the Dundalk Avenue streetscape. Virginia 6/19 Old Dominion University is seeking a general contractor for the construction of an academic building for the Darden College of Education in Norfolk. The building will connect to an existing three-story child-study facility via an upper-level breezeway. The project will include a green roof, and it is expected to seek LEED Silver certification. California 7/11 The City of San Francisco is seeking bids for the Third Street Light Rail Phase 2, which will extend the line to the Union Square/Market Street station.
