Second Worker Dies in a Year on Opus Job in Minneapolis
An unidentified ironworker with 20 years of union experience died Nov. 6 when he fell 35 stories while dismantling a crane at a Minneapolis luxury condo project. He reportedly was working for a subcontractor of site developer Opus Group, Minnetonka, Minn. In September 2005, a carpenter died when he fell down a shaft at the site. Opus was cited for safety violations for the earlier accident and paid a $25,000 fine and corrected violations.
